History

Selinsgrove Post 6631, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Was mustered in on November 7, 1986 in the meeting rooms of Victory Post 25 American Legion, on South Market Street Selinsgrove, with Cameron P. Deitterick Sr. Commander. Other officers were, Sr. Vice Commander, Howard Brubaker, Jr. Vice Commander William VanBuskirk, Quartermaster Ronald Hicks, Adjustant Harold W. Aucker, and Trustees Raymond Kinney, John Snyder and Charles Conz.

 

Post 6631 met in the meeting rooms of Victory Post 25 for the next 18 months, when they moved to the Route 522 Auction Barn where they had a Bingo Room and Meeting Room, rented from Martin Beachey.

 

In 1995 Selinsgrove Post 6631 purchased the Auction Barn from the estate of Mr. Beachey, and started major renovations to the Bingo Room, by adding a Kitchen and entrance lobby. A Social Room was then added next to the Bingo Roomand was completed in December1995, and a Banquet/Dance Room was under construction in January 1996 when deep snow caused the building to collapse.

 

A new metal building was started in March 1996, and completed in July 1996, with the Post holding it's first Bingo on July 8, 1996 and opening the Social Room on August 8, 1996.

 

Selinsgrove Post 6631 has been a 100% Post 14 out of it's 30 years of existence having several All State Commanders and a All State Quartermaster 9 years out of 17. 2 Dist. Commanders, 1 Dist. Adjustant and a Dist. Membership Chairman.

 

Selinsgrove Post 6631 prides itself with the community support it gives, to needy peopleand community projects. Post 6631 has held benefit dinners in the past to help rais money for Kidney Transplant patients, Heart patients, etc.

 

Selinsgrove Post 6631 donated money to the community swimming pool, American Cancer Socieety (Relay for Life) Children's Miracle Network, Scotland School, Veterans Memorial and many more projects.

The Building

The Social Room is approximately 30' x 50' with 18 bar stools and several tables. With total seating of 80. Hours of operation ar 10:00 untill 23:00 hrs Monday through Saturday with Sunday closing at 19:00 hrs.

 

The bar features a good variety of bottled beer, 5 draft beers, and a wide variety of fast foods, punch boards and rip off tickets, and a happy hour, Monday through Thursday 16:00 to 18:00 hrs.

Banquet/Dance Room

This room is approximately 65' x 100' and can seat 300 people for a banquet with very little dance floor, or 250 people with plenty of dance floor or 400 people with no tables. It is used for Wedding Receptions, Class Reunions, Saturday Night Dancing to our bands hired for our membership dancing and entertainment, Pool Tournaments, or almost any kind of function. (ie. business meetings, business luncheons, funeral luncheons, etc.)

Bingo Room

This room is approximately 65' x 86' and will hold 150 regular Bingo players or 250 charity type (basket, Boyds Bears) bingos. It is equipped with a kitchen for fast foods, a soda, chip, and candy area, and a small games of chance area. Our regular Bingo is held evry Monday except Christmas and New Year.  

Options

Bingo, Social and Banquet Rooms are smoke free.
